The cuffed tracheostomy tube is a sterile medical device that is inserted into a tracheostomy to allow the passage of air in patients undergoing a tracheotomy. The cannula consists of a flexible, angled PVC tube, a collar, and a cannula holder. It has a cuff that acts as an isolation system, separating the upper from the lower portion of the trachea. The cuff also provides secure fixation to the tracheal walls. In addition to allowing airway clearance, it protects the patient from inhalation (of saliva, food material, or gastric origin) and is the most suitable in mechanical ventilation as it eliminates air leaks from the upper airway. The cannula has a curved shape for insertion into the trachea, and allows a correct and safe connection to the automatic respirator for artificial ventilation.
Product’s Features
- High-volume, low-pressure cuff to minimize trachea’s trauma
- High-quality valve to optimally control cuff inflation and pressure
- High-quality 15mm connector for connection to standard breathing systems
- Soft, curved distal tip to minimize the risk of tracheal trauma
- Adjustable fixing collar
- Radiopaque line to ensure clear identification of the tube in chest x-rays
- Single-use item
- Sterile (EO sterilized)
- Available in different Inner Diameters (ID) from 3.0 to 10.0mm
- Made of medical-grade PVC to ensure high flexibility of the tube and to fit the respiratory tract perfectly
Product’s Applications
- Used to isolate the lower airway from the upper airway, preventing inhalation of mucus or other substances. The cannula is connected to the respirator for ventilation. It allows excellent tracheobronchial clearance and enables phonation.
